Luca Trevisani(Verona, 1979) is a visual artist, writer and lecturer.
His multidisciplinary practice has been exhibited internationally in museums and institutions such as the Sydney Biennial, Manifesta 7, Venice Architecture Biennial, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Kunsthalle Wien, Kunstverein Braunschweig, ZKM Karlsruhe, Magasin, Grenoble, MAXXI Rome and many others.
Luca Trevisani’s practice moves through metamorphosis. It is a way of becoming-the-world, transforming into what we did not yet know we were. His work responds to a tension between dissolution and structure, language and flesh, control and release. What appears as disintegration may in fact be a shift in perception—the formation of a new model, a space for unexpected connection.
Projects for Volcanic Attitude
Obsidian is the island's precious stone—it is the fire of the volcano transformed into a glassy, razor-sharp substance. Luca Trevisani slices, sharpens, and transforms this very difficult-to-work stone into a cutting object—shard-knives that cross the threshold of prohibition, evoking the island as a place of detention, a search for freedom, and an escape from imposition.
