The Festival

Volcanic Attitude is a contemporary culture festival that hosts artists and researchers in a programme of happenings, lectures and performances between Naples and Vulcano (Aeolian Islands).

Volcanic Attitude connects the research of artists and experts from various scientific disciplines with volcanic territories and the primary forces of nature, to investigate the ways in which we act and think, and how these change in relation to the place and the tools we use.

THE PROTAGONISTS

Chiara Boschi

CNR – First Researcher, Institute of Geosciences and Geo-resources

Her main scientific interests are: water-rock interaction processes in marine and continental environments, the carbon cycle, oceanic serpentinisation and serpentinite carbonation related to mineralogical CO 2 sequestration (mineral CCS) and negative technologies for climate change mitigation.

Andrea Dini

CNR – First Researcher, Institute of Geosciences and Geo-resources

First Researcher at CNR, he explores and investigates magmatic-hydrothermal systems with applications to geothermal energy and mineral deposits. Fascinated by the geo-mineralogical diversity of planet Earth, he has studied rocks and minerals from all continents. He is the author of numerous scientific and popular publications.

Andrea Orlando

IAS – Archaeoastronomer, Sicilian Institute of Archaeoastronomy

Degree in Physics and international PhD in nuclear and particle astrophysics. A scholar of medieval history, ancient civilisations and cultural astronomy, since 2012 he has been a member of the Italian Society of Archaeoastronomy (SIA), founded in 2000 under the prestigious auspices of the Accademia dei Lincei. He has collaborated with various research institutions, both national and international.

Salvatore Passaro

CNR – Marine geologist, Institute for Marine Sciences

He studies volcanoes, cartography, geomorphology and sedimentary dynamics in the marine environment.

Fabrizio Perghem

Artist

His works are ‘document-devices’, in the form of audio tracks, Polaroids and sculptures, aimed at triggering the visualisation of situations and materials that are no longer present or invisible. dispositivi-documento, sotto forma di tracce audio, polaroid e sculture, volti a innescare la visualizzazione di situazioni e materiali non più presenti o invisibili.

Fabrizio Vatieri

Artist

An artist and photographer, he trained as an architect. His artistic practice is based on various disciplines including performance, photography and music. His research focuses on the identity of places, the man–space relationship and the dialectic between artistic research and the working dimension of the artist, investigating the meaning of work as human performance and its relationship with the poetic and spiritual dimension of the individual.

Artists’ Collective

Their practice is expressed through film sets, happenings, acoustics, sculpture, videos and performances that incorporate spectatorship into the notion of the living image.
