Margherita Morgantin

Artist

Margherita Morgantin is an italian visual artist born in Venice who lives and works in Milan. She graduated in Architecture at the I.U.A.V. Department of Technical Physics, studying methods of forecasting of natural light. Her work is articolated through different languages, ranging from drawing and installation to performance, and moving on a thread that connects language, philosophy, mathematics and visual culture. Contact and cohabitation, observation and imagination, are the open intervals that characterize the work of Morgantin. She has contributed to many group shows and festivals in Italy and abroad. She teaches artistic anatomy, semiology of the body, at Accademy of Fine Arts Brera, Milano.

Margherita Morgantin’s work unfolds across different languages, ranging from drawing to writing to performance. She explores forms that intersect mathematics, the philosophy of science, and language, with an approach grounded in the physical perception of knowledge.

During Volcanic Attitude 2025, she will present a series of flags in navigation (forming a text using the international maritime signal code) (Granpavese, 2019). The work will be displayed on the upper deck of the LAURANA ferry.

The artist will also invite participants to a moment of collective attunement and listening to natural elements (Anemoscopio variabili 3, sul vulcano).

She published the books of short texts and drawings: Titolo variabile (Quodlibet 2009), Agenti autonomi e sistemi multiagente (with Michele Di Stefano) (Quodibet 2012), Wittgenstein (Nottetempo 2016), Lo spazio dentro (with Maddalena Buri) (Nottetempo e-pub 2020), Sotto la montagna sopra la montagna, cronache, nottempo 2021; Artemide’s/di Artemide + Lerosa chronicles, Quodlibet 2023 She also released the LP COSMIC SILENCE 5, fluorescence 4 with Ilaria Lemmo and Beatrice Goldoni for the Xong collection - artists records (Xing 2022).
