Rachele Maistrello 1986) is an Italian visual artist whose practice, rooted in analog photography, video, and writing, constructs rhizomatic narratives that investigate liminal spaces and declassified archetypes.
Her work engages with themes related to biology, the mind, inherited memory, and deep ecology. In her photographs, the natural emerges through plausible yet magical silhouettes, visual short circuits of scientific and virtual iconology that unsettle seemingly familiar spaces.
OBSIDIAN THRESHOLD
OBSIDIAN THRESHOLD Obsidian Threshold emerged from The Diamond Saga, the body of work that Rachele Maistrello has been developing over recent years, beginning with Black Diamond. The project unfolds through a collective reading centred on the character of Fen Lin, blending historical reconstruction, fantasy and imaginative digression. After the reading, participants will encounter obsidian silhouettes with which to play, hide amongst, and build shelters and impromptu sets for the camera. These alchemical forms symbolise transformation and serve as tools for projecting one’s own unconscious.
