Artist

Bjarki Bragason is an Icelandic visual artist whose work explores the intersection of time, memory, and the transformation of the landscape. Trained at the Iceland University of the Arts, the Universität der Künste in Berlin, and the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, he creates works that interweave geology, botany, and architecture, investigating the processes that shape the relationship between humans, nature, and history.

Bjarki Bragason has presented his work in various exhibitions exploring the relationships between landscape, memory, and environmental change. Recent exhibitions include Why is Iceland so Poor? (2024) at The Living Art Museum in Reykjavík, Sequences XI - Can’t See: SOIL (2023) at the Kling & Bang space in Reykjavík, Iðavöllur: Icelandic Art in the 21st Century (2021) at the Reykjavík Art Museum, After all (2020) at Gerðarsafn, the Kópavogur Art Museum, and Selfsame (2019) at Hverfisgallerí in Reykjavík. These projects reflect his exploration of natural processes, the history of places, and the relationships between humans and the environment.
